MESA, AZ — One person has died and another was seriously hurt after a crash in Mesa on Saturday morning of August 30, according to police.
The incident occurred near Val Vista Drive and Southern Avenue just before 7:30 a.m.
Police say two individuals were taken to a hospital, where one person died. The other person, identified as the driver, suffered life-threatening injuries.
There was damage to homes from bricks flying due to the crash, police said.
It is unclear what led to the crash, but police believe speed and impairment were factors.
On December 18, police announced that the driver, 22-year-old Isaiah Torres, was released from the hospital and arrested and is faces second-degree murder and criminal damage charges.
