Mesa police have arrested a man for allegedly shooting and killing his former roommate's girlfriend.

Officers were called to a shooting at an apartment complex Friday morning near Broadway and Lindsay roads where they found an adult woman dead and an adult man injured.

Police later located the suspect, 22-year-old Arturo Perez, and detained him for questioning before arresting him for the homicide.

The 19-year-old woman killed has been identified as Unique Aguilera.

Police say the man injured in the shooting was the former roommate of Perez. The injured man's girlfriend, Aguilera, was killed in the shooting.

Investigators believe the shooting was based on disputes and girlfriend issues between Perez and the injured man.

Perez has been booked into jail for second-degree murder.
