One Maricopa County Animal Care and Control facility may be closing its doors as another looks towards upgrading.

Sources tell ABC15 the county board has approved $1.8 million for an architectural firm to look at workflow and animal housing for Maricopa County Animal Care and Control.

The shelter is reportedly planning an eventual upgrade at its West campus.

As part of that, closing the East campus in Mesa is a possibility, although no final decision has been made.
