Authorities say four people were hurt when a fire ignited inside a Mesa apartment.
Crews responded to a complex near Alma School and Broadway around 8 p.m. Monday.
Firefighters say the flames were contained to a single unit and extinguished relatively quickly.
Police officers responding to the scene helped evacuate those living near where the fire started. Two were treated for smoke inhalation but did not need to go to the hospital, Mesa firefighters said.
Two other people were taken to the hospital for minor injuries and smoke inhalation, according to officials.
The fire did not spread to other apartments, and investigators were still working to determine how the fire started.
