A 39-year-old man convicted of shooting and killing his wife and a Good Samaritan near Loop 202 in Mesa in 2016 has been sentenced to life in prison.
In February, Christopher Wright plead guilty to two counts of first degree murder for shooting and killing his wife, Nasbah Wright and a good Samaritan who had stopped to help, Tomas Ornelas.
Authorities say in May 2016 Nasbah Wright had called police and was trying to prevent her husband from taking her car.
Nasbah Wright called police back two more times after the calls suddenly ended and told them that her husband was going to shoot her.
As officers responded to the scene near Loop 202 and McKellips Road they found Nasbah Wright and Ornelas shot and killed.
Christopher Wright was located near the scene and was taken into custody.
He later told investigators that he decided to crash the car he and his wife were in to try and kill her.
After the car crashed, authorities say Nasbah Wright ran from the car to a truck nearby which prompted her husband to shoot and kill her and the Good Samaritan, later identified as Ornelas.
