Police: Gilbert Pizza Hut employee shot during attempted robbery

GILBERT, AZ — A Pizza Hut employee is recovering after being shot by an attempted robber Tuesday evening.

Police were called to the scene near Baseline and Power roads around 5:15 p.m.

Authorities are still looking for the shooter who fled the scene, said Gilbert Police Sgt. Bill Balafas. The victim was taken to the hospital with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.

The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic man in his 30s.
