GILBERT, AZ — A teenager has died while two others remain hospitalized following a crash in Gilbert Saturday night.

It happened just after 10 p.m. on Williams Field Road, east of Gilbert Road. Police say the car, carrying five teens, was heading west when it slammed into a tree.

Four of the teens were originally taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

On Wednesday, police announced one of the teens, a 16-year-old female, died from her injuries on Tuesday.

Officials say two of the teens remain in the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A fifth teen suffered minor injuries and didn’t need to go to the hospital.

Investigators believe alcohol may have played a role in the crash.
