GILBERT, AZ — 71-year-old man, James Lassa, did not let lung cancer get in the way of marrying his longtime sweetheart, Kathleen Robbestad, 61, on Saturday.
The two got married at Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center in Gilbert where Lassa has been receiving treatment for his cancer.
According to a press release from Banner Health, they both met online eight years ago and never looked back.
“As soon as we saw each other, we knew that was it,” said Robbestad.
Lassa and Robbestad had been planning to get married way before Lassa was diagnosed last month.
“He’s an amazing person, and we’re both so excited to get married,” she said.
