Authorities say a wrong-way driver caused several collisions on a state highway on the Phoenix area's southern outskirts during the Friday morning commute.
Capt. Damon Cecil of the state Department of Public Safety says the accident occurred around 6:30 a.m. on State Route 347 near Maricopa Road.
Cecil says traffic slowed because of the wrong-way driver and that one of the collisions involved a motorcycle rear-ending a car. According to Cecil, the motorcyclist suffered a broken shoulder blade.
Cecil says the wrong-way driver was stopped and he described the wrong-way driver as elderly.
No additional information was immediately available.
