CHANDLER, AZ — A group of car thieves were captured Tuesday after running from Chandler police.

Police say officers were called to the area of Rural Road and Chandler Boulevard after receiving reports of multiple suspects burglarizing vehicles in the area.

When officers arrived on scene, they located the suspects' truck leaving the area. Police tried to stop the truck, but it raced away. A short time later, police say the truck crashed near Price Road and Chandler Boulevard and all four people inside took off.

After an extensive search, police were able to track down all four suspects and take them into custody. The vehicle they were riding in -- a Ford F150 -- was stolen out of the City of Phoenix, police say.

The suspects were identified as Desmond Cruz Ortiz Jr., 20, Jorge Hernandez, 18, Chad Granado Colyer, 18, and a juvenile male.

Ortiz Jr, Hernandez, and Colyer were all booked into jail on various felony charges. Police say the juvenile male was released to the custody of his parents and will have charges filed at a later date.
