CHANDLER, AZ — A woman reported missing from Chandler last month was found dead near a Phoenix river bottom, police say.

Chandler police say Amy "Ruby" Leagans was reported missing on Oct. 27 after family said they hadn't heard from her since Oct. 21.

Investigators determined there were suspicious circumstances surrounding her disappearance.

On Nov. 17, Phoenix police found human remains near a river bottom near Central Avenue, north of Broadway Road.

Officials identified the remains as Leagans, and noted foul play in the woman's death.

Chandler police say they believe 61-year-old Timothy Sullivan may be connected to the disappearance and death of Leagans. They have not located Sullivan and are actively searching for him.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Chandler Police Department at 480-782-4130 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS (480-TESTIGO for Spanish).
