CHANDLER, AZ — The zip code in Arizona with the most COVID-19 cases resides in Chandler and is home to more than 60 nursing centers.
As of Monday, zip code 85224 in Chandler, Ariz. has 161 positive COVID-19 cases. There at 64 nursing centers in the zip code, according to unitedstateszipcodes.org.
In that zip code is Pennington Gardens, which reported 16 COVID-related deaths in late April.
It was later found out that an employee from Pennington Gardens worked at Desert Cove Nursing Center less than a mile away, which reported a sudden jump of 53 cases in one week.
Just next door, zip code 85202 has 148 positive COVID-19 cases, and zip code 85225 has 78 cases.
Currently, more than half of group settings with positive COVID-19 cases are at long-term care and assisted living facilities, according to the Arizona Department of Health Services.
