Chandler police cracking down on DUI offenders

Chandler police have identified a huge problem and on Wednesday they're cracking down to remedy it.

Police say there are 1,900 active DUI warrants through Chandler City Court -- drivers who were arrested for DUI and either skipped out on court or haven't followed through with the judge's orders.

On Wednesday, officers will saturate the city from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. tracking down those offenders.

If they find you, odds are you'll go back to the police station and be re-booked.

However, police say you can call ahead to the city court to find out if you have an active warrant and start the paperwork to schedule a new court date without being arrested provided it's a misdemeanor warrant and not a felony charge.

For those who are not sure if they have a valid DUI warrant, call the Chandler Municipal Court at 480-782-4700 for information.
