CHANDLER, AZ — Just two days after ABC15 reported 13 resident deaths at an assisted living facility in Chandler were related COVID-19 complications, three more people have died at the same facility, according to emails sent to families.
The Pennington Gardens assisted living facility in Chandler has been hit hard by the virus. A total of 16 residents have died and 29 residents and 10 staff members have tested positive for coronavirus.
"Our condolences to all of our families who have lost a loved one. We keep praying for recovery and are dedicated to seeing residents get well. We are seeing a few signs of recovery, so we are hopeful," said administrator Nancy Njoroge.
In the letter sent to family members, a staff member within the community has contracted the virus from outside of the facility.
"We also received news that one additional team member, that has been at home for some time, has tested positive after caring for a family member. This individual has not been back to the community for a couple of weeks and has not been in contact with residents recently," the letter read.
