Police are investigating after a man was killed in a shooting Friday night.
Phoenix police responded to a neighborhood near 75th Avenue and Camelback around 8:30 p.m. for a report of a shooting.
Officers say one person was taken from the scene in 'extremely critical' condition. The victim, identified as a 48-year-old man, was pronounced dead after arriving at the hospital.
Police said the suspect and victim likely knew each other and the shooting happened after a fight between the two.
In an update Saturday afternoon, police identified the victim as Martin Lopez Meza. A Phoenix police detective was cut on the hand when trying to apprehend the suspect in Meza's death, forcing the officer to shoot and kill 38-year-old Ruben Horacio Strand early Saturday morning.
