PHOENIX — The Phoenix Police Department says officers were involved in a deadly shooting Saturday night near 75th Avenue and Indian School Road.
The incident happened around 8:15 p.m. after a man, later identified as Jose Arenas, allegedly robbed someone at an ARCO gas station.
Police say they responded to the call and made contact with Arenas, who then led them on a short chase into a restaurant.
Arenas pointed his weapon at officers and that's when police say they shot several times, and struck Arenas inside the restaurant.
Arenas was then transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
No officers or other people inside the restaurant were injured in the shooting.
The shooting is currently under investigation.
