Phoenix police and the Arizona Department of Public Safety swarmed an apartment complex near 75th Avenue and McDowell Saturday night.

Authorities said a 911 caller reported shots being fired into the air from a vehicle driving west on Interstate 10. The suspect vehicle was last seen in the area of 79th Avenue and McDowell Road, leading police and DPS troopers to focus their search on an apartment complex near that intersection.

Law enforcement searched the area with the help of the police department's helicopter.

Sunday, police said officers detained a man. However, investigators did not have enough to arrest him for the crime. The man was arrested for DUI, police said.

The suspect who possibly fired shots remained outstanding, according to Phoenix police.
