PHOENIX — The Phoenix Police Department is investigating a deadly shooting near 83rd and Glenrosa avenues in west Phoenix.
Authorities say officers responded to the area at about 6:30 a.m. Christmas Day for reports of a person with a gun.
When they arrived they found 18-year-old Tyler Cardiel with a gunshot wound in the roadway.
Paramedics with the Phoenix Fire Department pronounced Cardiel dead at the scene.
During the investigation, Phoenix detectives were able to identify the suspect as 30-year-old, Timothy Bell, based on DNA evidence recovered from the scene.
On Friday, January 8, probable cause was developed to arrest Bell for murder, he was subsequently booked into the Maricopa County Jail.
Officers are still working to figure out a motive for the shooting.
