PHOENIX — Police are investigating after a crash involving multiple vehicles in Phoenix left a person dead on Thursday.

According to Phoenix police, the crash happened on 43rd Avenue just south of Dunlap Avenue shortly after 5:30 p.m.

Police say witnesses told officers that a Honda-Pilot made a left turn onto 43rd Avenue from a business in the area and collided with a sedan, which was traveling southbound on 43rd Avenue.

The impact caused the sedan to then collide head-on with a Chevy Tahoe truck traveling north on 43rd Avenue. The man driving the sedan was rushed to the hospital, but died from his injuries, police say.

The driver of the Honda was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries, while the driver of the truck and their three passengers were also taken to area hospitals for non-life threatening injuries.

Police said impairment does not appear to be a contributing factor to the crash.

Road closures are in place on 43rd Avenue between Dunlap and Alice avenues while officers investigate.
