A K9 with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office is credited with finding 1,500 pounds of marijuana in Phoenix.
According to MCSO, detectives were conducting drug surveillance near Interstate 10 and 51st Avenue this week.
Officials observed a truck that had indicators it was carrying illegal contraband. A K9 was used on the vehicle and it showed a positive indication the trailer contained illegal drugs.
A search warrant was obtained and over a hundred bundles of marijuana was found.
Sheriff Joe Arpaio said, “we rely on our K9’s so much they are in harm’s way all the time and they need protection.”
Arpaio is planning to showcase 13 of his K9’s who received ballistic vests next week.
