PHOENIX — Food City is launching a round-trip shuttle service for shoppers after a fire ripped through a strip mall on 35th Avenue and Van Buren on Sunday, September 29.

The 35th Avenue and Van Buren Food City location is the only store in the neighborhood that had a pharmacy, and "customers without transportation need to get their scripts filled," a press statement from Food City noted.

According to the press release, Food City has set up an hourly round-trip shuttle that will take customers from the Food City store at 35th Avenue and Van Buren to the Food City store at 91st Avenue and Thomas Road.

"The pharmacy at the Thomas Road store will be able to fill prescriptions and assist shoppers with their pharmacy orders until regular service resumes at the Van Buren store," the press statement noted.

Shuttle pick-up and drop-off locations will be marked with signs near the entrance to each store, according to the press release.

The shuttle will run between two west side Food City markets:

Food City Supermarket
3442 W. Van Buren Street, Phoenix, AZ 85009
(NE corner of 35th Avenue and Van Buren)

Food City Supermarket
9020 W. Thomas Road, Phoenix, AZ 85037
(NE corner of 91st Avenue and Thomas)

The shuttle will pick up customers on the hour from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Food City Van Buren location.

The shuttle will return from the Food City Thomas Road store on the half hour from 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
