Authorities are investigating after a crash near 43rd Avenue and Interstate 10 Thursday night.
Police said officers responded to 43rd Avenue and McDowell for a two-vehicle collision. One required mechanical breaching to free the driver, police said.
Phoenix firefighters said crews had to cut an approximately 40-year-old man out of a pickup truck. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Investigators said they were looking into whether intoxication played a role in the crash.
Police were unsure about the extent or duration of any traffic restrictions as a result of the crash, but the Arizona Department of Transportation said the I-10 off ramps were impacted.
