Authorities say a south Phoenix intersection will be closed until late in the night after a deadly crash Tuesday afternoon.
Police say a vehicle and motorcycle crashed in the intersection of 51st Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road just before 5 p.m.
Witnesses told police the vehicle, a truck, was in the middle of turning when the motorcycle crashed into the side of the truck.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. The driver of the truck remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, according to a release from the Phoenix Police Department.
Officials asked drivers to avoid the area of Lower Buckeye Road from 43rd to 53rd avenues until at least 10 p.m. for the investigation.
