The family of Antwan Cook, along with others who knew him, held a car wash in an effort to encourage witnesses to come forward in his death.
Police say Cook was found unconscious by officers in an apartment complex parking lot near 28th Street and Broadway the night of April 29, 2015. He had suffered an injury to head and was transported to the hospital, where he later died.
His mother says this weekend is particularly hard on her.
"They don't know what they've taken from me," Michelle Rogers said. "Yes, I have six other kids but that doesn't make it hurt any less. I birthed him and I can't spend another Mother's Day with him."
Investigators say Cook was attacked by two men, one of whom has been charged. Authorities are still looking for the second suspect.
