Man shot after breaking into ex's girlfriend's home in Phoenix

PHOENIX - A man was shot Monday night after allegedly breaking into his ex’s home with a handgun, intending to confront her new boyfriend.

Phoenix police say the 27-year-old man broke into his ex-girlfriend’s home near Central Avenue and Broadway Road around 8 p.m.

He then attempted to assault the woman’s new boyfriend. During the assault, the victim, who was also armed, shot the suspect.

The name of the suspect has not been released, he is still in the hospital recovering from his injuries. The victim remained on scene and is cooperating with police, who are still investigating the incident.
