A man has died after he was hit and killed by one of his associates in Phoenix.

On Sunday night, Phoenix police responded to a crash in the area of 91st Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found the victim, 21-year-old Gabriel Morales with critical injuries in a greenbelt area of the neighborhood.

Phoenix police said the driver, 20-year-old Lakeisha Bonner, and the victim are associates. Bonner was driving the victim around to do errands.

According to police, Bonner dropped off Morales in the neighborhood and he began assaulting her and stole her wallet before running from the area.

Police said Bonner drove through the neighborhood to search for Morales when she hit him with her vehicle.

Morales was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Bonner reportedly told police that she intended to "scare him and get his attention" but didn't mean to run him over.

Bonner was booked for one count of Manslaughter, a class 2 Felony.
