A 10-year-old, black Australian Shepherd has a new lease on life after falling 15-20 feet down into a flood control reservoir near 48th Street and Baseline.

The wet, stray dog was out on the streets during last week’s rain, and ended up trapped in the reservoir, unable to escape.

The Phoenix Fire Department and crews from the Arizona Humane Society were able to hoist the pup, now known as Odie, out of the reservoir.

Odie was taken to the hospital and veterinarians found no significant injuries. He does have typical age-related medical conditions such as being mildly arthritic and cataracts in his eyes.

Without a collar or microchip, the Arizona Humane Society hasn’t been able to find Odie’s owner so he will go up for adoption at the Sunnyslope Campus located at 9226 N. 13th Avenue Tuesday (Jan. 12) at 11a.m.
