PHOENIX — A juvenile male was shot inside Desert Sky Mall on Tuesday afternoon and authorities are searching for the suspected shooter, according to Phoenix Police Department.
Police were called to the scene near 75th Avenue and Thomas Road around 4 p.m. for a shooting call in the mall area. Officers located one victim who had been shot.
The victim, only identified by police as a "juvenile male," was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition.
Police say the incident started as a verbal argument between two groups of juveniles and young adults, which escalated into the shooting.
Police said the suspects ran away immediately after the incident and have not been identified. No suspect description was given.
The south end of the mall was closed for the rest of the day due to the police situation.
