Woman killed in crash with suspected impaired driver near 29th Avenue and Bell Road

PHOENIX — A 48-year-old woman was killed in a crash involving a suspected impaired driver Sunday evening, police say.

Officers were called to the area of 29th Avenue and Bell Road around 6 p.m. for a crash involving two cars. A Dodge Durango reported crossed over the raised median into oncoming traffic, pushing a Toyota Camry into a block wall.

The driver of the Toyota, Tran Viet Truong, was killed in the crash.

The Dodge driver, only identified as a 64-year-old man, suffered serious injuries.

Police say the Dodge driver is believed to have been impaired at the time of the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
