PHOENIX — A 17-year-old is dead after a shooting Friday night near 16th Street and Union Hills Drive.
Officials said they received a call for a shooting around 8:50 p.m.
Detectives believe Hery Almeida-Garcia was with friends and they were confronted by "an unknown suspect." That's when the shooting occurred.
Almeida-Garcia was taken to the hospital where he later died.
The shooter left the area before police arrived and remains outstanding.
Details of what led up to the shooting remain under investigation.
