Riders in custody, hospitalized after fleeing from DPS in Phoenix

PHOENIX - Two motorcycle riders are in custody after they fled from a state trooper on Saturday morning. 

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, a trooper tried to stop two motorcycles on Loop 101 westbound. 

The riders reportedly did not stop and exited Loop 101 at the Cave Creek Road exit.

DPS said one of the motorcycles then crashed. 

The rider of the crashed motorcycle was taken to the hospital in serious condition with unknown injuries, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.

Fire officials say the second rider is expected to be transported to the hospital as well.

No further information was immediately available.
