Phoenix Police say a man from England was found dead on Camelback Mountain.
Police air units found the man, identified as 56-year-old Stephen Vanderhoeven, lying on a steep area. He had obvious signs of injury.
Vanderhoeven was reportedly visiting Phoenix and was searching for a specific species of lizard in the mountains.
A friend in England last heard from him on Sunday, June 12, but had not returned back to England as expected. Investigators learned that he arrived in the Valley on June 10, had been staying at an area hotel and rented a car.
After the aerial search, his body was recovered and identified on Tuesday evening.
Medical examiners are working to determine his exact cause of death. At this time, police don't suspect foul play.
