Six people are displaced and four dogs are missing after a first-alarm blaze broke out in a Sunnyslope neighborhood Wednesday evening.

A Phoenix Fire spokesperson says they responded to the fire near Hatcher Road and 7th Avenue but were forced to fight it defensively due to downed power lines and heavy flames.

The fire spread to another home just west of the first residence, officials said. The first home suffered significant roof damage.

The two adults and one child who live in the first house are being assisted by the Red Cross. They told officials that they're still attempting to locate their three dogs.

The second home suffered significant damage to the attic. Three adults are displaced from that residence. They're also being assisted by the Red Cross.

Five dogs live at the second home and one remains missing, a fire spokesperson said.

No injuries have been reported at this time, but heavy smoke and downed power lines have been reported.
