PD: 19-year-old shot, killed, left in roadway near 64th Street and Thunderbird Road

PHOENIX — Phoenix police are searching for a suspect who allegedly shot and killed a 19-year-old victim, leaving him dead in the roadway near 64th Street and Thunderbird Road.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, the body of 19-year-old Matthew Chamberlain was found in the roadway around 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday by a passerby.

When first responders arrived, they pronounced Chamberlain dead at the scene from an apparent gunshot wound.

"Investigators are actively working to identify the suspect as well the circumstances surrounding the shooting," Phoenix police Sgt. Maggie Cox wrote in a press release.
