A 16-year-old girl from Illinois who came to Arizona with her boyfriend has died from a gunshot wound, police said Tuesday.

On Jan. 15, Phoenix police were contacted by another police agency out of Illinois requesting help searching for a missing teenager. Police had information that the girl was with her boyfriend in Arizona.

Police went to a home near 43rd Avenue and Cactus Road shortly before 7 p.m. to see if the boyfriend's vehicle was there. It wasn't. They returned two hours later and were talking with the man's parents when they heard two gunshots.

Police found 24-year-old Alexander O'Neill dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and Faith Kies, 16, of McHenry County, Ill. suffering from a gunshot wound.

She was taken to the hospital where she died the next day, according to police.

No other details were released.
