PHOENIX — A family of two has been displaced after a car crashed into their home and caught fire near 35th Avenue and Union Hills Drive in Phoenix.

Officials from the Phoenix Fire Department say that around 2:30 a.m., a car rolled over onto its hood and crashed into a single-story home.

Firefighters extinguished the car fire, then moved into the attic and interior of the home where the fire extended.

They were able to keep the blaze from spreading any further.

Phoenix Fire Crisis Response is working to find lodging for the displaced family.

The driver of the crashed vehicle initially fled from the scene, according to fire officials, but was found a short distance from the crash.

The driver is now in police custody. It is unclear if impairment was a factor of the crash.

This is an ongoing investigation.
