An elderly man is dead after being hit by a car in north Phoenix Friday night.
Police officers responded to the area of 25th Place and Union Hills Drive around 8 p.m. after receiving reports of an accident involving a car and pedestrian.
Witnesses told officials that the pedestrian, 74-year-old John F. Fish, was crossing the road when a Ford Mustang heading west on Union Hills Drive struck him mid-block.
Fish was taken to the hospital where he later died of his injuries, police said.
The driver remained at the crash scene and was cooperating with the investigation. Impairment does not appear to be a factor.
