A driver is dead after crashing into a pole in north Phoenix overnight.
Officials were called to the scene near 39th Avenue and Yorkshire Drive around 1:30 a.m. Monday.
Police say a vehicle crossed over into the eastbound lanes of traffic, hitting a utility pole.
The driver was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.
Police say the area is shut down and drivers should avoid the area Monday morning. There is no estimate on when the area is expected to reopen.
