Multiple people were taken into custody after an attempted robbery at a Camelback High School sporting event earlier this week.

Phoenix Union High School District says the incident occurred at a Varsity Basketball game Tuesday night.

Three non-Camelback High School students approached a Camelback student while he was going to the game and attempted to rob him. The student said the suspects showed a weapon during the incident.

The victim immediately reported the incident to security officials who called police and an immediate lockdown was put in place for about 45 minutes.

The game reportedly went on as planned and fans stayed in place, but no one was allowed to enter or exit the gym.

District officials say the non-Camelback students were taken into custody and lifted the lockdown once the investigation was finished. They also say one of the suspects reportedly tried to run from police.

District officials say no weapon was found.

ABC15 is awaiting further information from police.
