Police are investigating after a shooting in Phoenix early Thursday morning.

When police arrived at the Motel 6 near 27th Avenue and Indian School Road around 5:20 a.m., they discovered a vehicle with a bullet hole in the side.

Police say shots were fired at a security guard who was responding to a domestic dispute between a group of people in the parking lot. The guard then fired back before a suspect fled in a separate car.

The fleeing vehicle was found near 23rd and Georgia avenues a short time later, where police also located the suspect.

Police say the suspect suffered a minor injury and the incident is still under investigation.
