PHOENIX — A two-vehicle crash near 48th Street at Baseline Road left one person dead and another seriously injured, police said.

The collision happened around 6:45 p.m. Sunday and involved a car and motorcycle.

Police say Thane Dennison, 28, was booked into jail on counts of aggravated assault and manslaughter after reportedly turning left in front of an approaching motorcycle.

The impact threw the two motorcycle riders, 56-year-old William Curran and a 59-year-old woman, from the bike. Neither were wearing helmets.

Police say Curran was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The woman passenger was taken to the hospital where she is in extremely critical condition.

Dennison reportedly showed signs of impairment at the time of the crash.
