PHOENIX — Police say three people have been arrested on child endangerment and weapons charges from an incident at Piestewa Peak Monday.

A Phoenix Police Department spokesperson says officers responded to the trailhead close to 24th Street and Lincoln Drive around 6 p.m. Three people were determined to have been firing shots at a saguaro in the area and one of the men had his 1-year-old child with him in a seat carrier.

The handgun was found in the seat carrier underneath the child.

His father, 29-year-old Forte Nicholas, along with 38-year-old Kyonnie Hodge and 23-year-old Aaron Bradford were also arrested. All three face charges of child endangerment and discharging a firearm in city limits, among other charges.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
