Police say a man driving a stolen car has died after an officer-involved shooting in west Phoenix.

A police spokesman says no officers were injured in the shooting, which occurred about 3 p.m. Wednesday at 75th Avenue and McDowell Road.

The name of the suspect wasn't immediately released by authorities.

Police say the man may have been wanted on an outstanding parole violation.

They say after he was stopped, the man put the car into reverse and hit other vehicles in the area.

Police say at least one officer appeared to be in danger, and that's when the suspect was shot.

He was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later died.
