PHOENIX — Four people are dead and a fifth person was injured after a shooting at a home Tuesday in west Phoenix, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Officers responded to the home near 65th Avenue and Camelback Road around 6:45 p.m. Tuesday in reference to multiple people shot and found five people with gunshot wounds.

On Wednesday afternoon, police said it appears that one of the family members, later identified as Gilbert Gonzalez, had been drinking and making suicidal comments.

At some point, Gonzalez shot and killed both of his grandparents, later identified as Delia Noriega, 66, and Isaias Tovar Sr., 62, his uncle, Isaias Tovar Jr., 31, who died at the hospital, and another family member, a 19-year-old male, who is expected to survive.

Police said at some point during the shooting, one of the family members was able to return fire and strike Gonzalez. Police did not identify which family member shot Gonzalez.
