Phoenix firefighters have rescued two hikers who got stuck on Camelback Mountain Friday afternoon.

Air 15 video showed firefighters rappelling down a nearly vertical area of the mountain with the two hikers one by one to rescue crews waiting in a somewhat flatter area.

Fire Capt. Jake Van Hook earlier described the hikers as dehydrated, faint and unable to climb down the mountain on their own.

Firefighters say the two people were from out of town and were hiking the Echo Canyon Trail when they left the main trail and reached an unsafe area.

Both hikers were taken down safe and did not need to be transported to the hospital.
