PHOENIX — A 68-year-old woman died after being stabbed at a home in Phoenix Saturday morning.

Officers responded to a home near 40th Street and Thunderbird Road around 10:15 a.m. When police arrived on the scene, they found the woman standing outside the house with stab wounds and a suspect, later identified as the woman's son, barricaded inside.

Police said the suspect, 47-year-old Terry Driescher, allegedly stabbed his mother in the driveway of their home during an argument about the family dog.

Phoenix police say officers surrounded the residence and attempted to communicate with Driescher for several hours.

The Phoenix Special Assignment Unit was called to the residence to assist.

Officers were eventually able to take Driescher into custody without incident.

Driescher was arrested and faces murder charges.
