PHOENIX — A man is facing charges after Phoenix police say he admitted to stabbing a man in his home near the Biltmore Fashion Park.

According to Phoenix police, 36-year-old Anastacio Blanco Jr. was acting erratically in the parking lot of the mall on Saturday at about 3 p.m. He was heard yelling about people trying to kill him.

Authorities say he then jumped a wall into a nearby condo complex and threw large rocks at an elderly couple while they were sitting in their car. They both suffered minor injuries.

Blanco Jr. then ran through the complex, climbed a tree and got to the balcony of a condo. Police say he used rocks to break into the home, where he encountered a 71-year-old male resident.

Blanco Jr. reportedly threatened to kill the man, grabbed a letter opener and stabbed him several times. The victim was taken to a hospital and is said to be in stable but critical condition.

Blanco Jr. was caught by police as he was making his way out of the home.

He was taken to a hospital for evaluation after he showed symptoms of drug use, according to police.

He was booked into the Maricopa County Jail for attempted homicide and multiple counts of aggravated assault.
