PHOENIX — Phoenix police say a hit-and-run driver has turned himself in after allegedly hitting and killing a pedestrian near 32nd Street and Thomas Road.
On Saturday around 1:00 a.m., officers were called to 30th and Oak streets for an injured person.
A woman, identified as 33-year-old Jessica Lightner, was found lying on the ground. Crews with the Phoenix Fire Department pronounced her dead at the scene.
Detectives learned a 1997 Nissan truck, operated by an unknown person, was westbound on Oak Street at about 30th Street when it struck Lightner.
Witnesses directed police to the truck which was located nearby in the area of 2200 North 28th Street.
Police say at around 11:30 a.m. Saturday, 35-year-old Sergio Campa Najera turned himself in and admitted to being the driver involved.
Campa Najera was then arrested for leaving the scene of a fatal collision.
