Police say 20-year-old Cesar Garcia Bermudez has died after being shot in Phoenix Tuesday night.
Officers were called to the scene near 27th Avenue and Camelback Road around 9 p.m.
Police say Bermudez attempted to rob a fast food restaurant at gunpoint before the shooting.
Bermudez demanded money from the cashier and when he went to leave, an employee confronted him at the door and eventually shot him.
The employee was questioned and released by police.
