PHOENIX, AZ — A man has died after being struck by a car in Phoenix on Friday night.
According to police, the crash happened around 10:45 p.m. near 44th Street and McDowell Road.
Investigators said 47-year-old Tim Valdez was wearing dark colors and the driver didn't know he hit Valdez until he got out of his car.
A Phoenix fire unit was already in the area to give first aid after being called to a nearby apartment complex earlier to check on Valdez, who left shortly after.
The driver remained on scene and cooperated with officers. Authorities are still investigating what happened, but say impairment is not a factor.
